Bamf
Bamf is a tiny, imp-like creature resembling a miniature version of Nightcrawler, first appearing in a fairy-tale story Kitty Pryde tells. Later, small demonic creatures sharing the name and appearance became associated with Nightcrawler's corner of the X-Men universe.
Few characters can claim a debut as charming as Bamf's β springing onto the scene in Uncanny X-Men #153 in 1982, a Bronze Age Marvel gem crafted by the legendary trio of Chris Claremont, Dave Cockrum, and Josef Rubinstein. Small in stature but impossible to forget, Bamf has kept remarkable company over the decades, sharing pages with the likes of Nightcrawler, Kitty Pryde, Colossus, and Lockheed. Their appearances cluster most lovingly around Nightcrawler's corner of the Marvel universe, and the fact that Claremont's own curated Marvel Visionaries collection counts them among its moments says something about the affection this little figure inspires. With a catalog presence stretching all the way to 2023 and a key issue already to their name, Bamf is a delightful deep-cut for any collector who loves the warmth and whimsy that defined the X-Men's Bronze Age golden run.
