About the series
Launching in 1985, Marvel’s West Coast Avengers expanded the Avengers concept to the other side of the country, with Hawkeye and Mockingbird leading a satellite team out of Los Angeles. Over its 47-issue run, the series was shaped by writers Steve Englehart, John Byrne, and Tom DeFalco, with consistent art from Al Milgrom and Joe Sinnott, giving it a distinctive, action-driven feel. It gave key focus to characters like Bobbi Morse and Greer Nelson, carving out its own identity as a more personal, often quirky counterpart to the flagship title. This series mattered because it proved the Avengers brand could sustain a spin-off, paving the way for future team expansions.
