About the series
In 1993, Marvel spun Venom out of his Spider-Man origins into his own spotlight with Venom: Lethal Protector, a seven-issue miniseries that redefined the character as a conflicted antihero. Written by David Michelinie with art by Mark Bagley and Ron Lim, the series follows Eddie Brock’s Venom as he tries to protect a community of fellow symbiotes while clashing with Spider-Man and a fanatical Reverend Rakestraw. This foundational story helped cement Venom’s place as a major Marvel player and remains a key touchstone for the character’s solo adventures.
