Sure-Fire Comics

Sure-Fire Comics, published by Ace Magazines, blazed through a brief four-issue run in the early 1940s, packing each installment with a roster of costumed heroes and adventure strips. The Pat Lamar Studio, alongside writer Robert Turner and artist Harry Lucey, drove the series, which introduced characters like the sky-pirate Captain Lash, the cowboy Buck Steele, and the ace reporter Betty Dale. Though short-lived, it captures the energetic, pulp-infused spirit of Golden Age superhero and action comics at their most unpolished and inventive.
