About the series
From 1954, Charlton Comics’ Strange Suspense Stories ran for seven issues, blending eerie sci-fi and horror with a surprising recurring twist: bodybuilding icon Charles Atlas appeared as a character. The series is most closely associated with the pencils of Dick Giordano, Steve Ditko, and Bill Molno, alongside writer Carl Memling, who together crafted compact, atmospheric tales. Though brief, it’s a curious artifact of 1950s genre comics, showcasing early work from Ditko and Giordano before their legendary careers took shape.
