About the series
Marvel’s Strange Stories of Suspense (1955–1957) was a twelve-issue horror-suspense anthology that leaned heavily into twist endings and eerie, supernatural-tinged tales. Writer Carl Wessler was the series’ most prolific voice, while artists Bill Everett, Bob Bean, and Dick Ayers brought the chills to life with moody, atmospheric visuals. Though short-lived, it stands as a solid example of the pre-superhero Marvel’s commitment to genre storytelling, bridging the company’s 1950s horror output with the more famous anthology titles that followed.
