In the mid-1980s, French publisher Albin Michel brought a curated slice of American comics to European readers with Spécial USA, a ten-issue series that ran from 1985 to 1986. The anthology showcased the work of top-tier American talent, including writer/artist Bernie Wrightson and the versatile artist Alex Toth, alongside EC Comics veterans like Al Feldstein and Bill Elder. By reprinting classic and contemporary stories, the series served as a crucial bridge between the U.S. and European comics markets, offering a unique snapshot of American genre storytelling at the time.
