In 1850 Paris, sculptor Pierre Gouny wrestles with his wife Clothilde’s demands to focus on lucrative gargoyle statues, while secretly pursuing a forbidden art—bringing stone to life. When he creates a living statue of a woman to flee with, Clothilde destroys it, sparking a desperate act that traps her forever in stone—only for the gargoyle to come alive, and Pierre to become its next subject.
