About the series
In the mid-1990s, Carlsen Comics brought Frank Miller's stark, neo-noir crime saga Sin City to German readers, collecting the first seven issues of the original American series. The stories, set in the brutal, rain-slicked Basin City, follow a rotating cast of hard-boiled characters—cops, hitmen, and femmes fatales—as they navigate a world of corruption and violence. Miller's signature high-contrast black-and-white art and terse, hard-boiled narration defined the series, making it a landmark in independent comics for its uncompromising style and pulp-noir atmosphere. This German edition introduced a new audience to one of the most influential crime comics of the 1990s.
