It follows the hulking ex-con Marv as he investigates the brutal murder of the only woman who ever showed him kindness, Goldie, plunging into a violent underworld of corrupt cops, cannibalistic killers, and twisted loyalties in the rain-slicked, shadow-drenched Basin City. Miller's stark black-and-white artwork, punctuated by occasional splashes of color, defines the series' signature visual style and hard-boiled tone.
