About the series

Set in an alternate Victorian-era world of science and sorcery, Ruse pairs the brilliant detective Simon Archard with his enigmatic assistant, Emma Bishop, as they investigate seemingly impossible crimes. Published by CrossGen Comics, this 2003–2004 series was written by Mark Waid and Scott Beatty, with atmospheric art from Butch and Jackson Guice. Its clever blend of Sherlockian deduction and dark fantasy made it a standout during CrossGen's ambitious run.
