Roy Rogers, le roi des cow-boys

From 1953 to 1956, French publisher Périodiques et Editions Illustrées (PEI) released 36 issues of Roy Rogers, le roi des cow-boys, a photo-comic series starring the iconic singing cowboy. Scripted primarily by prolific Western writer Gaylord Du Bois, the series used posed photographs rather than traditional drawings to tell its adventures, giving it a distinctive, cinematic feel. It stands as a unique European take on the American cowboy hero, blending Du Bois's seasoned storytelling with a visual format that was popular in postwar French comics.
