Ranma 1/2
Viz · 2003–2006 · 36 issues
About the series
In the early 2000s, Viz Media continued its English-language publication of Rumiko Takahashi's beloved martial-arts romantic comedy Ranma 1/2 with this 36-issue series, adapting the original manga alongside new material. While Takahashi's whimsical art and storytelling remained the series' foundation, writers Gerard Jones and Kaori Inoue, along with artists Wayne Truman and Bill Schuch, contributed to the translation and adaptation for a Western audience. This run helped cement the series' status as a cornerstone of the manga boom in North America, introducing English-speaking readers to the chaotic, gender-bending adventures of Ranma Saotome and his rival/fiancée Akane Tendo.
