Phonogram

In this six-issue Image series from 2006–2007, writer Kieron Gillen and artist Jamie McKelvie introduced a world where music is literal magic, and the coolest—or most obsessive—music fans can wield it. Centered on a group of self-styled "phonomancers" in the UK indie scene, the story explores the power, nostalgia, and toxicity of pop culture obsession. This debut collaboration between Gillen and McKelvie established the sharp, character-driven tone and stylish visual language they would later bring to wider acclaim.
