Nutty Comics
Harvey · 1945–1947 · 6 issues
About the series
A short-lived but lively Harvey Comics title from the immediate post-war era, Nutty Comics ran for six issues (1945–1947) and showcased the cartooning of Al Zere (sometimes signing as JCA). The series offered a playful menagerie of recurring characters, including the rabbit duo Rags and Pesty, the ever-helpful Hank, the energetic Jumpin' Jack, the dreamy Nappie-Kin, and the toothy Barney Barracuda. While brief, it captures a moment when Harvey was building its stable of funny-animal stars, and Zere's energetic, rubbery linework gives these forgotten characters a distinctive, zany charm.
