“The Case of the Wooden Indian”

In "The Case of the Wooden Indian," a 1947 issue of Nutty Comics, Ricky is caught in a series of bewildering mix-ups involving mysterious visitors and a suspiciously lifelike wooden statue. With Al Zere handling art, inking, and lettering, the story unfolds with a quirky charm that’s both playful and just a little off-kilter.

Ricky's mother rouses him from bed to meet an attractive young woman, but by the time he gets dressed, the cute girl has departed and left her homely associate to pitch a hiking club to the disgruntled teen. Later, Mrs. Roony says the new neighbor's daughter has come to visit, but a disheveled Ricky doesn't believe her.
