About the series
Set in Prohibition-era Appalachia, Moonshine is a gritty, atmospheric crime-horror series from Image Comics that began in 2017. Written by Brian Azzarello and illustrated by Eduardo Risso, the team behind the acclaimed 100 Bullets, the story follows a New York mobster sent to the mountains to secure a lucrative moonshine operation—only to find the local bootleggers are guarding a monstrous, supernatural secret. Its taut, moody storytelling and Risso’s stark, shadow-drenched art make it a standout blend of period gangster drama and folk horror.
