About the series

In the early 2010s, DC Comics launched this eight-issue series as a gritty, character-driven military anthology, spotlighting the human cost of war in the superhero universe. Written primarily by Iván Brandon, James Robinson, and Jeff Lemire, with art by Tom Derenick and Phil Winslade, Men of War followed the soldiers of the U.S. Army's Task Force 13—ordinary men operating in a world of metahuman conflict. A key part of DC's "New 52" relaunch, the series offered a grounded counterpoint to caped heroics, emphasizing camaraderie, sacrifice, and the stark reality of combat without superpowers.
