Claire Bretécher’s Äidit, first published in 1990 by Art House, is a Finnish-language translation of the celebrated French cartoonist’s incisive look at modern motherhood. With translations by Soile Kaukoranta, this single-issue comic collects Bretécher’s sharp, satirical observations on parenting, family dynamics, and the absurdities of daily life, rendered in her trademark expressive, minimalist linework. It remains a key example of how Bretécher’s internationally acclaimed work found a dedicated audience in Finland.
