Commando Comics

During the Second World War, when American comics were scarce in Canada, Bell Features launched Commando Comics in 1942, a flagship title of the Canadian "Whites" era. Running 22 issues until 1946, this anthology series was most consistently shaped by the talents of Adrian Dingle, Leo Bachle, and Harry Thomson, who both wrote and illustrated its pages. Known for its patriotic, action-packed stories featuring Canadian heroes and wartime adventures, the series stands as a key example of the country's homegrown comic book industry during a pivotal period.
