About the series
From 1946 to 1953, Fawcett Publications’ Captain Marvel Adventures was the flagship series for the World’s Mightiest Mortal, with Otto Binder scripting the lion’s share of its 75 issues. The art team of C. C. Beck and Pete Costanza defined the book’s bright, kinetic look, as the Big Red Cheese faced an endless parade of mad scientists, alien invaders, and magical menaces. This series represents the peak of Captain Marvel’s pre-Silver Age popularity, outselling even Superman at its height and cementing the whimsical, fast-paced tone that made the character a phenomenon.
