The series was launched in 1946 by Larry S. Cleland, operating through Vee Publishing Co. in Australia, at a time when wartime embargoes on imported American publications and British newsprint rationing had created an opening for local and licensed reprint publishers to fill Australian newsstands. The Cleland editions reprinted Fawcett cover images alongside interior stories drawn from across the contemporary Fawcett run, reformatted to an oversized tabloid-adjacent newsprint format with color covers but black-and-white interiors — a production approach common to Australian reprint comics of the era. No issue date was printed on early numbers, so the series carries an undated (n.d.) designation in most catalogues, with circa-1946 established by contextual and GCD cross-referencing.
