About the series
In the mid-1960s, Charlton Comics gave the Blue Beetle his own short-lived series, a five-issue run written primarily by Joe Gill and illustrated by Bill Fraccio and Tony Tallarico. This incarnation followed the adventures of the scarab-powered hero, a key figure in Charlton’s superhero line, as he fought crime with a mix of earnest heroism and Silver Age flair. Though brief, the series cemented the Beetle’s place in the publisher’s stable, later influencing DC’s version of the character. It remains a compact but essential chapter for fans of pre-DC Charlton heroes.
