Black Knight
Marvel · 1955–1956 · 5 issues
About the series
In the mid-1950s, Marvel (then Atlas Comics) gave the medieval adventurer the Black Knight his own short-lived series, lasting just five issues. Stan Lee scripted this swashbuckling title, with artwork anchored by the dynamic pencils of Joe Maneely, Fred Kida, and Syd Shores. A brief but atmospheric foray into chivalric fantasy during the pre-superhero era, it stands as a showcase for Maneely's distinctive, moody linework before his untimely passing.
