Barbarella

Jean-Claude Forest’s Barbarella first appeared in a landmark 1968 Grove Press edition, consolidating the erotic space-opera serial that had originally run in France. Forest, both writer and artist, crafted the adventures of the free-spirited, scantily clad astronaut across a single, influential volume. This pioneering work, translated by Richard Seaver, helped introduce sophisticated European comics to American readers and remains a touchstone of 1960s counterculture and science-fiction art.
