About the series
In the mid-1980s, DC Comics launched Atari Force, a 20-issue series that adapted the video game company's characters into a cosmic adventure. Conceived as a tie-in to Atari's home computer line, the book was primarily written by Gerry Conway, Mike Baron, and Andy Helfer, with art by José Luis García-López, Eduardo Barreto, and Ross Andru. The series follows a team of heroes from different worlds—including a humanoid dolphin and a giant robot—as they battle the evil Dark Destroyer across the galaxy. Though short-lived, it stands as a curious and ambitious artifact of the era, blending sci-fi spectacle with the nascent crossover between video games and comics.
