About the series
In 1967, Archie Comics launched a three-issue superhero spoof starring Archie Andrews as the caped crusader Captain Pureheart, with Frank Doyle scripting and Bill Vigoda and Dan DeCarlo on art. This short-lived series pits Pureheart against the villainous Evilheart while his friends Reggie, Veronica, and Betty orbit the action in classic Archie style. A playful detour into the Silver Age superhero craze, it’s a charmingly silly glimpse of Riverdale’s gang in capes.
