About the series
Jacques Martin’s Alex is a long-running Franco-Belgian historical adventure series that debuted in 1968 with Casterman, following the Roman officer Alex Graccus and his Gallic companion Enak through meticulously researched ancient worlds. Martin wrote and drew the early installments, later passing the artistic reins to Marc Jailloux and Chrys Millien, while James Vandermeersch and Mathieu Breda joined as co-writers. Spanning 44 issues, the series is celebrated for its detailed period authenticity and remains a cornerstone of European comics, influencing the ligne claire tradition of historical storytelling.
