Among the ruins of an ancient Egyptian temple — flanked by a great Anubis statue and a shadowed figure in blue — the golden-haired Alex stands armed with a spear alongside a dark-haired companion, while a prowling cheetah paces at their side. This 2024 Casterman release, De hoeder van de Nijl, marks the 43rd volume in the long-running Alex series, with cover art by Chrys Millien that beautifully captures the series' signature blend of Classical adventure and archaeological atmosphere. Writer Valérie Mangin brings her storytelling to this Nile-set chapter, and if the cover's tense, watchful mood is any indication, there's plenty of intrigue waiting within.
