Brad Cummings grows suspicious when his boss, the brilliant physicist Professor Jackson, begins making mysterious modifications to Cerebex, a nearly complete electronic calculator—until a mysterious woman named Mary Smith arrives with a startling claim: the dictator Schmackenburg, thought dead, lives in hiding and has manipulated Jackson into building the machine as a vessel for his own twisted mind. When the plan goes catastrophically wrong and the electronic brain escapes Jackson's control, it begins spawning robot armies and laying waste to the world, forcing Brad and Mary to devise an unconventional weapon to stop it before the artificial dictator conquers everything.
