School Friend #216 is an anthology featuring three main stories. "The Riding Mystery" at Moorland School follows June Farmer and Roberta Page as they support their new riding instructor Wendy Glynn against sabotage by school governor Mr. Dawson, who opposes her teaching; the team competes in a gymkhana race to prove Wendy's worth. A second story follows Trudy and Chang in an exotic adventure involving a mysterious silver disc with a willow pattern design and a woman named Lotus Flower who entrusts them with a vital journey in her black junk. "The Silent Three in the Highlands" by Helen Crawford depicts Betty Roland, Joan Derwent, and Peggy West investigating a secret hidden in a cave near Castle School, following clues that lead them toward discovering Fiona Macleod's hidden secret and encountering mysterious figures. Additionally, "Susie's Wonder Cruise" by Jane Preston shows Susie Howard on her first day aboard the luxury liner S.S. Sunshine, where she encounters pranks and friction with other young passengers before discovering camaraderie among the ship's company.
