This issue of *School Friend* is an anthology containing three stories. "Secret Member of the Silent Three" follows Betty Roland, Joan Darwen, and Peggy West, members of a secret society at school, as they take refuge in an old lighthouse on an island to escape expulsion and work to solve the mystery of a wreckers' beacon. "Lonely Boy of Lonely Isle" by Hazel Armitage tells of Lynne Benson's encounter with Rolfe Fanshaw, a distant relative she meets while staying on a small island, and her discovery of his strange secret experiment involving a boat. "Nina—The News Reel Girl" by Jane Preston features Nina Taylor, a newsreel photographer, who investigates the theft of a giant rocket that was stolen from village children during a fireworks display.
