The issue contains two main stories. "The Curse of the One-Loaf Family" features a Peter Wheat bread man discussing with Mrs. Smith the importance of buying bread weekly, explaining that her single weekly loaf purchase is significant compared to customers who buy twelve loaves per week, and expressing his wish for more customers like her. "The Adventures of Peter Wheat" shows Peter and his companion Beetle searching for Humpty Dumpty in Mother Goose Land; when they find him sitting on a wall, he falls and breaks, and the king's horses and men cannot put him back together again, illustrating the classic nursery rhyme.
