Our Flag Comics #2 (1941)

On Flag Day, war veteran John Courtney adopts a baby boy, Jim, whose birthmark eerily resembles the American flag—setting in motion a destiny tied to patriotism and heroism. Years later, Jim experiences a vision from the spirits of American patriots who choose him to defend the nation, granting him superhuman powers tied to his flag-shaped mark. As he steps into his role as The Flag, he’s thrust into a mock military invasion that quickly turns perilously real.

Major Al Williams, a pioneering naval aviator, test flew experimental aircraft and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, later helping correct a dangerous design flaw after a crash that revealed critical data—leading to his eventual resignation from the Navy to focus on advancing high-speed flight and the unified air force.
