Jo and Johnny Jay witness the rise of Warbling Wally Woodpecker, a bird whose singing voice is unexpectedly tied to a swallowed whistle he’s forgotten about. As Wally’s fame grows and he prepares for a massive concert, a sudden mishap reveals the surprising truth behind his talent—only to plunge him into a series of hilarious vocal mishaps.
In a whimsical beauty shop filled with magical face-changing gadgets, young Jo is accidentally transformed into a series of increasingly absurd disguises after asking for face cream. As she tries to escape the shop’s mischievous staff and their endless parade of outrageous looks, she’s chased by a vanishing cream mob before waking up to find her own face restored. The story ends with Jo relieved to be back to normal—her own face, just as her mother would want.
In a whimsical tale from 1948, the hickory-hatted Duke, down on his luck, tries to sell his lonely stone tower by having it "graduate" from a mail-order haunting course. When a tiny, nervous spook arrives—sent by royal mail to haunt the tower—the Duke’s plan takes an unexpected turn, leading to a surprising twist involving a horn, a hat, and a long-lost prince.
