Girls' Crystal #1049 is an anthology containing three stories. "The Secret of Bear Glacier" follows Anne Fraser, who returns to Switzerland for a winter sports holiday and reunites with her best friend Paddy, embarking on an adventure by horse-drawn sleigh through snowy Alpine streets. "Carol of the Circus," by Doreen Gray, centers on Carol's daring scheme to recover a dress whose loss has caused heartbreak to a little girl, involving a stolen chalet and the involvement of circus animals and characters. "The Make-Believe Princess" tells of Deanna Stanley, who discovers a plot by the exiled Duke Alexis to frame the innocent Prince Michael by hiding incriminating papers in the royal palace, leading her to help Marina secure a duplicate key from a curiosity shop to retrieve the evidence and clear the prince's name.
