Girls' Crystal #1044 is an anthology magazine featuring multiple stories. "Mystery Girl of the Nile" follows schoolgirl tourists Sandra Drake and Beryl Gregg who befriend Yasmin, an Arab girl claiming to be the long-lost granddaughter of Sheik Sidi, and help her reach the city of Anka by carriage to prove her identity. "Carol of the Circus" by Doreen Gray concerns a young girl named Carol whose beloved sealyham dog Flick goes missing during circus preparations, prompting Carol and her friend Brenda to search the woods and uncover a mystery surrounding the dog's disappearance. "The Make-Believe Princess" depicts Deanna Stanley, who resembles Princess Zena of Pharona, agreeing to impersonate the princess when Zena wishes to visit her exiled brother; Deanna must prevent a plot to steal the throne while evading assassins and ensuring the real princess escapes safely.
