In the isolated Montana cabin, writer Rex Galton and his wife Lydia begin to notice unsettling anomalies—animals ignore them, their rifle shot fails to affect a mountain lion, and their television broadcasts strange, recurring news segments featuring a hooded announcer. As Rex becomes increasingly convinced something is profoundly wrong with their reality, Lydia grows alarmed by his growing fear and the inexplicable events that seem to defy logic.
Terry Marlowe, once Clarence Tubbs, a musician haunted by past failures, finds sudden fame after playing a mysterious trumpet he borrowed from a pawn shop—only to discover his greatest performances come only on that worn instrument. As his star rises, he becomes obsessed with reclaiming the gold coin he pawned to get it, convinced it holds a strange power tied to his musical talent. But when a stranger demands the coin back, claiming it’s rightfully his, Terry is thrust into a mystery that blurs the line between luck, legacy, and the price of stardom.
Jo, a cunning trader, sets his sights on a golden idol named Nedru on a remote island, believing its value will secure his fortune. When the islanders refuse to trade it, he sneaks in at night, steals the idol, and hides it beneath a tree—only to wake the next morning to find a jungle has erupted overnight, trapping him in a nightmare he can’t escape.
