Candy excitedly tells her mother she’s landed a movie contract after a talent scout picks her for the lead in a film called *Teen for a Day*, but her father’s skepticism turns to alarm when the supposed scout arrives—only to be exposed as a fraud. Meanwhile, neighbor Will Bragg, convinced he’s a master detective, takes it upon himself to solve a mysterious “crime” under the hedge, unaware he’s chasing a harmless prank.
Candy tries a playful romantic ploy by inviting her unromantic friend Ted Dawson over for a marshmallow roast by the fireplace, hoping the setting will spark a proposal. When Ted arrives—more interested in eating marshmallows than romance—Candy’s plans unravel in a series of silly misunderstandings, especially when their friend Orville unexpectedly shows up.
Jo and Ted’s playful attempt to fix a cracked wall mirror backfires in a series of escalating mishaps, from knocking over antique furniture to accidentally setting curtains ablaze—each disaster more absurd than the last. As their frantic efforts to "fix" things only make matters worse, Jo begins to wonder if the chaos might be more than just a series of accidents. When the house finally collapses into a surreal dream sequence, they wake to find everything restored—only to realize their own playful antics may have been the real source of the trouble all along.
Tina, heartbroken after being stood up by Freddie Oatmeyer for the spring dance, vows to drown her sorrows in milkshakes—until Candy intervenes, determined to help her lose weight by locking her in a reducing machine. As Tina struggles to resist the temptation of malteds, Candy pushes her to prove her willpower, only to find her friend utterly devoted to the machine… and the milkshakes.
Jo and Trish try to cheer up Jo after she feels guilty for making her boyfriend Ted walk home in the rain, leaving him sick with a cold. Determined to make it up to him, they attempt to collect money for a gift, only to run into absurdly high prices at a flower shop—until they impulsively pick wildflowers, leading to a humorous run-in with a policeman.
