In the tense days before a planned Sioux attack on Camp Gray, Red Feather volunteers to ride through enemy lines to summon reinforcements from Fort Davis, knowing the journey is perilous. Trapped by the Sioux after being mistaken for a Pawnee, he endures interrogation and imprisonment, secretly plotting to warn the outpost by sabotaging the enemy’s false peace parley.
