“The Other”

In "The Other," the Young X-Men investigate a mysterious island that’s revealed to be a living entity akin to Krakoa, as tensions rise over who among them might not be a mutant. Amidst the team’s growing unease, Dust shares a tense moment with prisoner Donald Pierce, while Emma reflects on Greymalkin’s trauma—only for Rockslide to piece together the truth when the island spares Ink. Written by Marc Guggenheim and illustrated by Ben Oliver, with coloring by José Villarrubia and letters by Dave Sharpe, the issue’s cover by Terry Dodson and Rachel Dodson captures the eerie, otherworldly mood.

Dust has an awkward conversation with prisoner Donald Pierce. Emma talks to Greymalkin about his traumatization. The team goes to look into missing construction workers on an island that turns out to be a living creature like Krakoa. All the while various characters speculate on which team member is not a mutant. After seeing that the Krakoa creature doesn't pursue Ink like it does the rest of the team, Rockslide figures out what Dani and Donald Pierce already knew- Ink is not a mutant. Additionally, Pierce reveals to Sooraya that while Ink is not a mutant, his tattoo artist is.
