This anthology issue contains two romance stories. The first story follows Sylvia, who after breaking up with her boyfriend, struggles to move on until her brother Jim introduces her to Luke Foster, a rough-around-the-edges sailor with rural sensibilities. Despite their cultural differences—Luke's lack of education and manners initially embarrass Sylvia—she finds herself drawn to him and they grow closer over the summer. The second story, "The Other Woman," depicts a love triangle in which a woman named Nedda realizes she has been the cause of conflict between her former boyfriend Mark and his current girlfriend, and she decides to step out of their lives so they can be happy together.
