In "Fast Descent into Hell!", Chris Claremont teams up with Michael Golden for a wild ride through the Savage Land, where Brainchild's twisted experiments turn Angel and Spider-Man into monstrous forms, unleashing chaos on Ka-Zar and the Fall People. When Tanya is captured and transformed, Lykos steps in to save her—only to suffer a terrible transformation of his own, becoming the monstrous Sauron. The issue, featuring dynamic art by Michael Golden and a striking cover by Mike Wieringo and Richard Case, ends with Spidey and Angel fleeing the jungle, leaving Sauron's fate—and the danger—still unfolding.
In the heart of the Savage Land, a long-lost love stirs a dangerous mission: Tanya Anderssen enlists Angel to help uncover the truth about Karl Lykos’s survival, while Peter Parker is sent by J. Jonah Jameson to document the expedition. Soon after arriving, Spider-Man and Angel are captured by the Mutates and brought before the enigmatic Brainchild, setting off a perilous journey into the unknown.
In "To Sacrifice My Soul...", Spider-Man and Angel are twisted into monstrous forms by Brainchild and unleashed upon Ka-Zar and the Fall People in the heart of the Savage Land. When Tanya Anderssen is captured and transformed, the desperate act of saving her unleashes a darker change—Karl Lykos, consumed by his own mutation, becomes the monstrous Sauron, leaving the heroes to flee with a new threat still lurking in the wilds.
In the heart of the Savage Land, Angel and Ka-Zar race against time to rescue the captured X-Men, facing Sauron’s twisted forces and the treacherous jungle itself. With Storm, Wolverine, and the others held captive, the fate of the team hangs in the balance—especially as Xavier’s attempt to cure Sauron may have unleashed something far worse.
