After betraying the X-Men and being forsaken by the Consortium, Storm next sets her sights on Wakanda where she develops a close relationship with her old flame T'Challa. She pits Erik Killmonger against the Black Panther and, when Kilmonger slays his old foe, Storm cozies up to her partner in crime (they plotted together to get rid of T'Challa) only to kill him in return. The royal palace explodes and Storm is rescued as the lone survivor. With the Black Panther dead, Wakanda embraces Storm as their new queen--exactly as she planned.
