The Circle Club has captured all of the X-Men except for Wolverine thanks to their newest member, Jean Grey, the Black Queen. Cyclops battles Wyngarde on the psychic plane for the soul of Jean but loses. Wolverine makes his way up from the sewers and takes on the club members to free his friends. The X-Men battle the Inner Circle but Jean manifests the Dark Phoenix and goes mad with her new powers.
