In "The Gift from the Best Man," Wyatt Earp encounters Judge Hackett and his son at a bank, where the judge reveals a scheme: he asks Earp to attend a gathering where Ramón Chacul, a Mexican bandit, will arrive to retrieve stolen money from the bank's vault. The judge plans to have Earp pose as a banker to help catch Chacul, promising Earp will heal from his injuries during the month-long operation. When White-Eye Pierce arrives at the jailhouse seeking Earp's help, Earp agrees to the plan and confronts Pierce about the situation, ultimately taking on the dangerous assignment to capture the outlaw.
