Wonder Woman: Odyssey #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis volume collects the first story arc of the 2012 Wonder Woman: Odyssey series, following Diana as she embarks on a perilous journey through a mysterious, alternate-realm version of the world. Written by J. Michael Straczynski and drawn by Don Kramer, the narrative strips away familiar elements of Wonder Woman's mythos, forcing her to rediscover her origins and purpose while battling strange new foes. The collection includes issues #1–6 of the series.
In "Odyssey, Prologue: Couture Shock," Wonder Woman returns home after a harrowing journey through the Underworld, only to be thrust into a new threat as the Morrigan awaken ancient horrors—Cernunnos and the Minotaur—using Medusa’s tears. With her resources stretched thin, Diana secures $10,000 by pawning a statue and rushes to protect her friend Brianne and her son Harry, unaware that her past actions have drawn danger to their hiding place. Written by J. Michael Straczynski and Phil Hester, with art by Don Kramer, Eduardo Pansica, and Daniel HDR, and cover by Alex Garner, this issue sets a tense, mythic tone with grounded stakes and escalating peril.
In "Odyssey, Part Five: Runaway Fate," Wonder Woman returns home to find her peace shattered when the Morrigan—Anann and Bellona—revive the Minotaur and the horned god Cernunnos using Medusa’s tears. With her resources dwindling, Diana turns to her friend Brianne and her son Harry, offering them the money from selling a cherished statue to keep them safe. But when Philippus arrives to reprimand her for reckless solitude, the fragile moment shatters—Cernunnos and his forces strike, piercing Diana through the back with a spear.
In "Odyssey, Part Six: The Huntsman," Diana is left wounded and determined after Philippus’s death at the hands of Cernunnos, who falls to her blade. With Harry taken by the Minotaur and the Amazons closing in on the Morrigan’s temple, Diana presses forward, knowing the path ahead is a trap. As the battle erupts, the temple’s dark magic awakens the dead—Giganta, Cheetah, and Artemis—while skeletons rise to oppose the Amazon forces, and Bellona’s power stirs beneath the ruins.
