In "Odyssey, Prologue: Couture Shock," Wonder Woman returns home after a harrowing journey through the Underworld, only to be thrust into a new threat as the Morrigan awaken ancient horrors—Cernunnos and the Minotaur—using Medusa’s tears. Written by J. Michael Straczynski and Phil Hester, with art by Don Kramer, Eduardo Pansica, and Daniel HDR, and cover by Alex Garner, this issue sets a tense, mythic tone with grounded stakes and escalating peril.

Diana returns to her house after her adventure in the Underworld. Anann and Bellona, two of the Morrigan, use tears from Medusa‘s head to revivify two of their victims, turning them into the horned god Cernunnos and the monster Minotaur, whom they order to kill Diana. Diana pawns a statue for $10,000 and goes to her friend Brianne and her son Harry, who are hiding out from Brianne‘s husband, and gives them the money. Philippus finds her there and scolds her for going out alone. Suddenly Diana is attacked by Cernunnos and his men, who skewer her through the back with a spear.
