“Year One Part Two”

In "Year One Part Two," Wonder Woman #4 (2016) delivers a pivotal moment as Hippolyta calls an Amazon council to decide the fate of Steve Trevor, the first man to reach Themyscira in centuries. With tensions rising and beliefs divided, Castalia’s conviction that the gods have sent Steve as a sign leads to a dramatic decision: a tournament to choose an Amazon champion to journey to the outside world. Written by Greg Rucka and illustrated with striking detail by Nicola Scott—whose dynamic pencils and inks define the cover—this issue sets the stage for Diana’s first steps beyond paradise, all while the Amazons prepare to answer a call they may not yet understand.

Hippolyta convenes an Amazon council to determine what course of action to take now that a man from the outside world has landed on Themyscira. There is a difference of opinion, but ultimately they listen to Castalia who believes the gods allowed Steve to find them and that it is a sign that the Amazons must help the outside world face a coming threat. It is decided to hold a tournament to determine an Amazon champion to accompany Steve back to man's world to face this threat. Diana wins the tournament and will accompany Steve back to the outside world.
