Wolverine and Kitty Pryde #1
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeWolverine and Kitty Pryde #1 is a genuine piece of retroactive X-Men continuity written by the man who built that continuity in the first place: Chris Claremont, co-creator of Kitty Pryde and the architect of the duo's defining 1984–1985 relationship, returns roughly four decades later to fill a specific narrative gap that had existed since the original Kitty Pryde & Wolverine mini-series ended. Editor Mark Basso publicly identified that gap as the unaccounted stretch between the close of the Ogun arc and the pair's reappearance in Uncanny X-Men #192, meaning this issue is canon bridge-building by the original author rather than a retcon by a later writer. The issue also carries Marvel's own note that it contains multiple new character first appearances, giving it genuine key-issue standing within the Bronze-to-Modern transition of the Claremont era. Because Claremont himself is completing a story he left open, the series occupies a rare storytelling category: primary-source expansion of classic continuity, rather than a tribute or homage by another creative hand.

The series was announced by Marvel on January 21, 2025, pairing Claremont with Damian Couceiro, an artist known for his work on X-Men Unlimited and the Groot solo series. Issue #1 went on sale April 30, 2025, with a cover date of June 2025, as the opening chapter of a five-issue limited series. Cover duties for the run were handled by Alan Davis — himself a figure closely associated with the Claremont-era X-Men — while variant covers were produced by Adi Granov, Marcus To, Rickie Yagawa, Bengus, and Todd Nauck. Claremont has described the project as the story of what happened between the final pages of the 1984 mini-series and Logan and Kitty's return to the X-Men, a window he had never previously addressed in print.
