Wolverine #79
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeWolverine #79 answers, for the first time on the page, the question every reader was asking the moment Magneto stripped Logan of his adamantium: can bone claws actually break? Larry Hama fires that Chekhov's Gun here, with Cyber shattering the claws on Wolverine's right hand and forcing an extended, multi-issue healing arc that underscored just how radically the post-'Fatal Attractions' status quo had changed the character. Beyond the claw-breaking moment, the issue doubles as the debut of Zoe Culloden, a Landau, Luckman & Lake operative who would become a recurring presence throughout the rest of Hama's run and later a major supporting player in Joe Kelly's celebrated Deadpool series. It also marks Cyber's first appearance in the main Wolverine title, a legitimizing move that anchored Peter David's creation more firmly in Wolverine's core rogues gallery.
In "Cyber! Cyber! Burning Bright!", Wolverine faces a chilling impersonator when someone using his identity tries to drain his bank account—only to discover the real threat is far more dangerous than fraud. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Adam Kubert, with inks by Mark Farmer and Mike Sellers, this 1994 issue delivers a tense, action-packed clash where Wolverine’s claws are tested in more ways than one. The cover, also by Adam Kubert, captures the intensity of the confrontation.

Written by Larry Hama and penciled by Adam Kubert — who had taken over the art duties just a few issues earlier — the issue was edited by Bob Harras with Tom DeFalco serving as editor-in-chief, placing it squarely within the mid-1990s X-office editorial structure that had just overseen 'Fatal Attractions.' The story's title, 'Cyber! Cyber! Burning Bright!', is a deliberate riff on William Blake's poem 'The Tyger,' a literary allusion that also connects thematically to the Madripoorian character Tyger Tiger. No unusual production circumstances have been documented for this specific issue.
